Grey paper covers. Spines are darkened, with faint creasing. Volume 3 has spine slanted. Volume 4 has a bit of what appears to be green candle wax to fore edge of text block. A few faint smudges on covers. No writing/markings. Internally clean.
Complete set of four volumes. 1799 pages of main report + 1018 pages of Volume 4 - Tables and Appendices.
The primary source for one of Canada's most dramatic financial scandals: the 1965 collapse of Atlantic Acceptance Corporation, an Oakville-based finance company whose $65 million failure drew in institutional investors from Princeton University to the Ford Foundation, and whose dubious loan portfolio included financing for a mob-connected casino in the Bahamas. Among Atlantic Acceptance's more surprising holdings was a large stake in Commodore Business Machines, predecessor to the home computer giant. Chaired by Mr. Justice S.H.S. Hughes of the Ontario Supreme Court, the Royal Commission sat from 1966 to 1969 and produced this exhaustive four-volume report, a foundational document in Canadian securities regulation history, and a direct catalyst for the creation of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation.
